Eco-Runner XIII is the most efficient hydrogen vehicle in the world

An experimental vehicle was created at the Dutch Technical University of Delft and traveled nearly 2,500 kilometers on a single charge of fuel, achieving a world record.
The team gathered around the project Eco-Runner Team Delft, at the technical university there, is the new world record holder in the efficiency of hydrogen vehicle drives.

Their experimental Eco-Runner XIII recently managed to travel 2,488.5 kilometers on a single charge of hydrogen, without recharging.

A team of just twenty students has been doing this since 2021, when they set their first record of 1,196 kilometers.

After that, the crown was taken by the Toyota Mirai with 1,360 kilometers covered, so the Dutch increased their efforts and broke those records again two years in a row.

Last year they traveled 2,055.68 kilometers, and this year they increased it by about 450 kilometers.

To achieve this, they had to optimize aerodynamics, increase the efficiency of their self-made electric motors, improve hydrogen fuel cell technology and reduce the losses created when converting hydrogen into electricity, and then that energy into kinetic energy.

In the end, they managed to cover almost 2,500 kilometers with only 950 grams of hydrogen, for even three days of driving on the test track, where they created optimal conditions. Their achievement was followed by the experts of the Guinness Book of Records, who officially confirmed this record.
