New York Times: More than 300 classified documents found in Trump’s Florida home

The US government has found more than 300 classified documents at former President Donald Trump’s Florida property, including materials from the CIA, National Security Agency and FBI, the New York Times reported, citing multiple people familiar with the matter.

The initial batch of more than 150 classified documents was recovered by the US National Archives in January, the newspaper reported. Trump associates gave a second set to the US Department of Justice in June, while a third set was seized in an FBI raid earlier this month, the statement said.

The Ministry of Justice has not yet responded to a request for comment, nor have representatives of the former president.

The search is part of a federal investigation into whether Trump illegally disposed of documents when he left office in January 2021 after losing the presidential election to Democrat Joe Biden.

During the search, the FBI seized 11 sets of classified material at Mar-a-Lago, some of which were marked “Top Secret” – the highest level of secrecy reserved for the most closely guarded US national security information and viewable only in special state institutions./MIA
