Shoulder pain indicates heart problems

117views

If you have problems with shoulder pain, see a doctor – such pain could indicate heart disease, scientists claim.

“If you suffer from pain in the rotator cuff of the shoulder, it could be a sign of another condition, that is, heart problems,” said the lead author of the American research in Utah, Kurt Hegmann.

The research analyzed the data of 1,266 workers. Analyzes show that larger factors that affect heart disease, such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol, affect shoulder problems.

Participants in this study with the most severe risk factors were 4.6 times more likely to have shoulder pain than those without such factors.

Those with intermediate levels of risk factors had fewer shoulder problems.

“Great physical exertion can make rotator cuff problems worse, but it’s not the primary problem. The risk factors of cardiovascular diseases are much more serious than the workplace factor” – he adds.
