Alcohol negatively affects the creation of antibodies

Antibodies to the coronavirus develop weakest in people over 70 years old, as well as in those who are under constant stress or regularly drink alcohol, said Russian scientist Alexander Ginzburg.

The director of the Gamalei National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology of the Russian Ministry of Health said that, as a rule, everything is more problematic in older people, from 70 to 80 years old, including the development of antibodies.

However, he says certain circumstances can make it harder for younger people to develop antibodies as well.

“Regular alcohol consumption, especially during the vaccination period, has a very negative impact on the amount of antibodies developed and on T-cell immunity. Constant stress or constant stressful conditions also have a negative effect,” said Ginzburg.

The scientist also explained that the production of antibodies can also be affected by broad-spectrum antibiotics.
